I tried, I failed. I attempted to take yesterday off from twitter. The problem is, you can't get away from it. I tried and succeeded in NOT logging in to any of my three personas. What I couldn't get away from was my desire to help folks with Twitter or my thoughts that I wanted to tweet.
As for helping, I managed to talk a new user through the sign up stages all the way through explaining the difference between a @Reply and Direct Message. It was really cool to be able to talk about the topics without needing to use the site. Social Media is moving at such a clip, that many people are looking to me to teach them how to just get started. I'm happy to help - especially when it's with a tool that's near and dear to my heart.

As I went through my day, at least a half dozen "I should Tweet this" ideas came into my head - but I broke pattern with my behavior and did not pull up twitter. I sat there realizing that Twitter is merely an outlet for me: A voice for the quieter thoughts inside my head and I realized I like it. I like being able to post short snippets of conversation running through my mind. I'm a twitter evangelist - I like to share the joys of twitter with the world. I'm finding it more difficult to NOT tweet than to tweet. That is exactly what puts me on the Social Media side of the Marketing fence. The grass is greener here for me - so here is where I'll stay. Now all I need is someone to hire me to do this day in and day out!
